ABOUT STAFF:

Co-Directors:

Barbara Anson: After having worked for 12 years as a community public health nurse in the inner city of Washington D.C., Barbara's direction broadened. While living in Kenya and the Philippines, she worked in community based ministries assisting families in need. She is now focusing on developing and managing EP programs, particularly the retreats and inner-city family/youth ministry. Barbara was the primary founder of EP retreat center, together with spouse, Dick.

Richard (Dick) Anson: After 24 years with the World Bank in various roles promoting poverty reduction and enhanced governance (primarily as a rural sector/project team leader, in 3 field assignments), Dick retired in July, 2002, to work with Barbara as co-director of Ezekiel's Place Retreat Center. He is devoting special attention to the financial management of EP and its global forums. Dick brings his professional experience and Christian perspectives to help establish EP as a sustainable non-profit organization. Dick will continue to work part-time (as "tent-maker") to raise funds for EP activities, with a focus on consultant assignments addressing international poverty reduction, post-conflict development/reconstruction, and governance.

Local-based housekeeping and outdoor maintenance staff work part-time, and various friends and interested community persons work on a volunteer basis. As relationships continue to be built in the surrounding community, other volunteers are coming forth to further develop and support EP programs and activities.

There are plans to invite seminarian/graduate students to work at EP as interns for limited or extended periods of time in helping to develop EP program areas. Katharine Dow, graduate student (conflict transformation at E. Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Va.) was the first summer intern (August/September, 2002), and continues to help organize the international students global forums program.
